Karolina Sadowska B.S., M.D.

Psychiatry Resident at Duke University Hospital

Originally from Warsaw, Poland, Dr. Karolina Sadowska moved to the U.S. to pursue a neuroscience degree at Columbia University. While in college, she developed a strong interest in mental health, prompting her to work at the Columbia-WHO Center for Global Mental Health after graduation. During her time in medical school at Weill Cornell, she was a part of the Geriatrics and Palliative Care Summer Scholars in Aging program and pursued research at the intersection of psychiatry, geriatrics, and palliative care under the mentorship of Dr. Daniel Shalev. Additionally, Dr. Sadowska was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and received the Henry Adelman Memorial Award for Excellence in Geriatric Medicine. Recently chosen by the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry as one of the 2025 AAGP Scholars, she is hoping to help address the growing mental health needs of older adults through her future clinical and scholarly work.
